I have to admit, I was always a big fan of back to school season as a kid: shopping for a new backpack, stocking up on fresh notebooks and new pens, picking out that first day outfit. OK, so maybe I was more of a fan of the retail side of things, but I still get those excited butterflies in my stomach when the end of August rolls around.
That’s why I love our annual Back to School issue so much. It’s always fun to take a look into the next 10 months in anticipation of another year of star students, big sports seasons and exciting school news.
This year we take a look at the public schools in our area—including my alma mater, Lenape High School—reviewing the facts and figures of each school to see where they rank in terms of SAT scores, student-to-teacher ratio, graduation rate and more.
We then dive into the new SAT test, taken by last year’s juniors and seniors in the spring. We find out what students should know going into the first full year of testing, and revisit the importance of the ACT test. Then we have some fun with events to keep your weekends fun and educational, and share our favorite places to splurge on an after school snack.
Good luck to all the students and parents entering into another exciting school year. Now get studying!
