Chinese Lantern Festival
Watch as Chinese lanterns illuminate the Franklin Square park during this two-month festival, which will showcase new lantern sculptures, handcrafted keepsakes and cultural stage performances. This year’s festival will include 29 new lanterns and a phoenix centerpiece that measures 200 feet long and 21 feet tall. May 4
Down and Derby Wine Festival
Make a fashion statement on the red carpet wearing Derby Day style from large hats to 1920s-influenced attire. Attendees can sample red and white wines, rosés and sparkling wines from a number of South Jersey wineries at the Kentucky Derby-inspired event. An array of activities will be available from learning how to wage bets to live music and games. Attendees must be 21 or older. 3 p.m., Cooper River Park, 5300 N. May 11
Paws and Feet Walk
Take a walk or run in the Animal Welfare Association’s largest annual community event, which celebrates the unbreakable bond between people and their pets. The day will begin with a 5K race and one-mile walk and will conclude with a doggie fun day with a live DJ, food and games the whole family can enjoy. 8 a.m., Cooper River Park, 5300 N. May 18
Rhythm and Brews  
Returning for its fourth year, Rhythm and Brews shuts down the 500 and 600 blocks of Station Avenue and will feature everything local from music and art to food, beer and wine. Aside from the main stage for music, there will also be additional music stations down the street along with artisans, food trucks and restaurants. 3 p.m., Station Avenue, Haddon Heights, VisitHaddonHeightsNJ.com  

May 18-26
New Jersey Renaissance Faire
Journey back to the 1500s at New Jersey’s 10th annual Renaissance Faire, which brings to life crafts, historical reenactments and performance art from the Shakespearean period. Watch as the woodlands take you back in time to see the lives of the citizens unfold before you as fantasy turns into reality. 11 a.m., 1195 Florence Columbus Road, Bordentown, NJRenFaire.com 

May 19
Exploring Beyond
The South Jersey Pops are coming to Medford for a performance that is sure to be entertaining for the whole family. Featuring special guests Charlie Hannagan and the Audubon High School Ensemble Choir, the out-of-this-world performance will include covers of Queen, Led Zeppelin, Star Trek, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and more. 3 p.m., Lenape High School, 235 Hartford Road, Medford, SouthJerseyPops.org 

May 25
40th Annual May Fair
It began as a small clothesline art exhibit but has grown over the last 40 years to be a mile stretch of more than 200 artists and crafters. The May Fair will feature art, music and even a kids’ zone with pony rides, carnival games and children-friendly crafters. Highlights of the event will include the artists and crafters, antique and classic car auto show, food courts, multiple stages for live music and much more. 10 a.m., Haddon Avenue, Collingswood, Collingswood.com 

May 27
Memorial Day Parade
Honor war heroes and those who have fallen to protect our country with the annual Memorial Day Parade. The parade, which dates back over 100 years and seeks to bring the community together for such a meaningful day, is filled with veteran and military groups, bands, antique vehicles, youth sports organizations, floats and more. 10 a.m., Glassboro Town Square, Glassboro, Glassboro.org
