The Mount Laurel Jaguars 12U ice hockey team (pictured) won the Philadelphia Regional Division of the International Silver Sticks Hockey in West Chester, Pa., in the Pee Wee Major A Division. The team was undefeated going 6-0 overall, scoring 35 goals and allowing 7. The win allows the Jaguars to compete in the International Silver Sticks Championship in Port Huron, Mich., in January.
Lenape High School Boys’ Cross Country
The team won their first-ever Olympic Conference American Division title and also captured their first Burlington County Open title in 31 years. The Indians also placed second in the South Jersey Group 4 championships, 24 points behind winner Southern Regional. In the South Jersey Group 4 meet, David Quimby was the Indians' top runner, placing 11th overall.
14U Voorhees girls’ soccer Vikings
The 14U Voorhees Girls’ Soccer Vikings have finished as the top team in the last four state tournaments they have entered. The girls went undefeated in the Voorhees Soccer Association Memorial Day, Marlton Summer Classic, East Brunswick, and Cape Express tournaments.
Haddonfield Memorial High School Girls’ Field Hockey
The Bulldogs beat West Deptford, 2-0 to win the South Jersey Group 2 championship. The two teams had split their two regular season games. Led by juniors Megan Johnston and Alex Marshall, Haddonfield earned its second South Jersey championship in three seasons under Coach Lindsay Kocher.
Moorestown High School Girls’ Tennis
The Quakers went 22-4 to capture the South Jersey Group 3 title, which it has done in consecutive years since 1989. Key singles players were junior Emma Allen (22-8), freshman Briana Maravich (24-6) and sophomore Shelby Burke (27-4). Teaming at doubles were senior Ally Curtis and junior Kelsey Ham (27-6) and junior Lauren Culbertson and senior Dana Sleeper (20-5).
Haddonfield Memorial High School Girls’ Tennis
The Bulldogs earned yet another state Group 2 title—the 17th in school history, including 16 under coach Jeff Holman. The team finished 31-1 and for the second year in a row were led at No. 1 singles by sophomore Taylor Ng, who went 39-4. Senior Martha Theordoris was 29-4 at No. 2 singles and classmate Spencer Ng went 33-4 at No. 3 singles. The first doubles team consisted of senior Meghan Burns (35-2) and junior Catherine Senopoulos (37-2) while the second doubles tandem was junior Rebecca Senopoulos (32-1) and freshman Victoria Martinez (34-1).
Eastern Regional High School Boys’ Soccer
The Vikings won the American Division title this season for the second time in three years. Eastern went 7-1 in the division and clinched the title with a 1-0 win over Lenape on a goal by Michael Grossman. Coach Steve Kosyla had a veteran team with 16 seniors, led by scoring threat Nick Tierce.
Shawnee High School Boys’ Soccer
The Renegades won all their divisional games and regained the Olympic Conference Patriot Division title from Cherry Hill West this season after the past two .500 seasons. The Renegades went 1-0-1 against the Lions, scoring a 2-0 win on two Greg Biggiani goals and then playing West to a scoreless tie in the rematch, with Mike Hartmann getting the shutout in goal. With a strong junior class, Shawnee should excel again next season.
