Carusi Middle School Girls’ Softball
Led by head coach George Hanna, the Carusi Middle School Lady Mustangs softball team won the South Jersey Middle School Softball League Championship. The Cherry Hill team finished the season with an 11-1 record. The softball team has won or shared the championship for the past four years.

Shay Cowan & Gene Venuto
Mount Laurel Indians Boys’ Lacrosse
Shay Cowan and Gene Venuto, three-year coaches of Mount Laurel Indians Lacrosse, have seen their team through two consecutive undefeated seasons. The now- fifth-grade team has won more than 40 games. In a recent game versus Cherry Hill Lacrosse, 11 different players scored 13 goals. Cowan and Venuto focus on teaching their players to honor the game and to exhibit respect and good sportsmanship.

Sandy Stockl
Washington Township High School Girls’ Lacrosse
Sandy Stockl, coach of the Washington Township High School girls’ lacrosse team since the start of the program in 1994, has attained 200 career wins. Her team’s 200th victory was against Absegami, with a score of 19-2 in the first round of the South Jersey Group 4 playoffs.

Washington Township High School Athletic Director
Kevin Murphy (pictured) was recently honored with the Patriotic Employer Award by the Office of the Secretary of Defense, for supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Force.

Karl Moehlmann
Cherry Hill East High School Boys’ Volleyball
Karl Moehlmann has served 18 years as head coach for the Cherry Hill High School East boys’ volleyball team. Under his direction, the team has racked up a total of 300 wins. That’s the most rapidly any South Jersey team has reached that milestone.


Rich Bakely Voorhees Middle School Baseball
The Voorhees Middle School baseball team, guided by Rich Bakely, won the South Jersey Middle School Baseball Championship, beating Moorestown 10-1. The team ended the season with an overall record of 13 wins and one loss.

Jason Russo
Haddonfield Memorial High School Girls’ Track
After completing the season with an 11-0 record, Jason Russo’s track team won the South Jersey Group 2 track championship this spring season.

Jamie Stack
South Jersey Rowing Club
As a first-year coach of the South Jersey Rowing Club, Stack has led the co-ed team to the U.S. Rowing Youth National Championships in Tennessee this month. Nine high school students, ranging from freshmen to seniors, will be participating: Zach Kovach, Mike Ricciardi and Reid Moak from Eastern Regional; John Laberee and Casey Yang from Shawnee; Shawn Hammond, Brandon Crouch and Alex Siegel from Cherry Hill East; and Julie Calzonetti from Cherry Hill West.

Dirck McDowell
William Allen Middle School Track
The William Allen Middle School boys’ and girls’ track team, coached by Dirck McDowell, were undefeated in their regular season. The Moorestown team continued their success by winning the Moorestown Relays, where several students won individual gold metals.

Moorestown High School Boys’ Tennis
Bill Kingston, the school tennis coach, has seen his teams secure 955 wins in the course of his 38-year career.

Dave Van Horn, Ed Horner and Mike Pawlowski
Marlton Penguins Street Hockey
Under the direction of coaches Dave Van Horn, Ed Horner and Mike Pawlowski, the Penguins won the 2011 Marlton Street Hockey Championship in the Beaver division, consisting of 10- to 12-year-olds.
