The team not only swept their Little League district championships, but they advanced to the Cal Ripken League State playoffs. There, they competed against a bracket of eight other teams, and they managed to win the state championship as well.

Mystics Blue 12U, Medford
Among the best fast-pitch softball teams in New Jersey, the Mystics Blue were the 2011 United States Specialty Sports Association “B” State Champions. The athletes faced off against 20 teams and came out on top at the state level.

South Jersey Rowing Club
The South Jersey Rowing Club varsity club squad, comprised of area middle school and high school students, went to the United States Rowing Club National Championships, where 1,500 athletes competed at junior, senior and intermediate levels. In women’s varsity single and double sculls, the girls’ squad placed second. Nikki Kloss of Cinnaminson, Amanda Craig of Eastern Regional High School, and Hannah Bender and Shannon Brown both of Cherry Hill West (pictured from left), all qualified for nationals.

Mount Laurel 10-year-old District Baseball
The Mount Laurel team, led by coaches Don Matlack, Greg Matthews and Dan DiSandro, came out of the weeklong district tournament undefeated, snagging the championship title. This earned them a place in the state championship competition.

Bishop Eustace Girls’ Varsity Lightweight 8 Crew, Pennsauken
The Bishop Eustace varsity girls’ rowing team took home the gold at the Scholastic Rowing Association of America National Championship, defeating teams from as far away as Florida and Chicago. It was the first-ever gold medal for a Bishop Eustace boat at this event.

Moorestown Friends School Boys’ Choir
The Philadelphia Boys’ Choir extended an invitation to eight members of the Moorestown Friends School boys’ choir to travel with them on their western concert tour. Hunter Harris, Liam Mace, Tyler Soso, Zach Durr, Ian Millstein and Jonathan D’Souza performed at festivals and events across the southwestern United States.

Comets 12U Softball, Washington Township
The Comets faced and defeated the Medford Black Diamonds twice in a row in order to take home the Major 1 South Jersey Girls Softball Association Championship title. The team went on to Disney World, where they competed in the United States Specialty Sports Association World Series and finished in 13th place out of 66 teams from across the country.

Atlantic Little League Girls’ 9-10 Division, Cherry Hill
The Cherry Hill Atlantic Little League girls’ softball team defended their district title by defeating Rancocas Valley in the District 13 Tournament. The 9- and 10-year-old Atlantic Champs moved on to Sectionals.

Erial Little League
After nine years without a District 14 Championship title, the Erial Little League 12-year-old boys’ team brought it home this summer, also sweeping the Section 4 tournament. The champs advanced to the state tournament, where they finished one game away from a state title.

Minutemen 12-year-old Baseball, Washington Township
The Minutemen won the Cal Ripken 12-year-old state tournament this summer, beating out Mount Laurel, the three-year state champion and favorite to win. After coming from behind, Washington Township scored eight runs and won 11-6, clinching the state title.

Wedgewood Swim Team, Haddonfield
Haddonfield’s Wedgewood Swim Club sent its team to an undefeated season with a 5-0 record. This earned the co-ed team their first-ever win in the “A” division of the Tri-County Swimming Association.
