COIT

Happy Paws: COIT and the Animal Welfare Association Join Forces.

COIT Carpet Cleaning and the Animal Welfare Association (AWA), are two different companies with one important community goal: finding forever homes for homeless cats and dogs.

Lori Colino, owner of COIT, for the past 16 years has joined forces with Maya Richman, executive director of the Animal Welfare Association in supporting the AWA’s lifesaving programs that benefit our community’s pet and pet owners. COIT will donate $5,000 in money and services in 2012. “Over the years I have adopted several dogs from area shelters and I always wanted to give back by donating the services my company offers. My initial impression of the AWA is how much their staff truly cares about the animals,” says Colino.

At first COIT started by coordinating what services they could offer for the shelter with Betsy Ransome, Director of Shelter Services for the AWA. COIT has cleaned, power washed and sealed the floors of the shelter to help keep it sanitary for its furry residents. “It grew into collecting items needed for the animals from my customers,” says Colino. Sixty percent of COIT’s customers are pet owners so getting donations from them was easy. “My customers are animal lovers,” Colino adds.

‘Now we incorporate their message into our print marketing,” says Colino. “COIT is an incredibly generous partner and we would never be able to tell our story without them,” says Maya Richmond, executive director of the AWA. In addition COIT consistently supports AWA events, such as the Paws & Feet fundraiser walk held each year at Cooper River.

Ways to Donate

COIT is happy to accept items off the AWA’s wish list while they’re at your house this month and in return they’ll give you a free bottle of pet odor remover and a $25 gift certificate for your next cleaning. You can also drop off the items at their office, located in Somerdale, or stop by the AWA, located on Centennial Boulevard in Voorhees with your donated item.

“We love COIT, they’re just wonderful,” says Richmond, explaining how instrumental their business has been in promoting the shelter. “They have been a very generous partner for us. They really give back all the time,” says Richmond. U
