Tea Time (pictured)
Fifth-grade students at Bells Elementary School in Washington Township have been minding their P’s and Q’s all month in preparation for their annual tea party—a fun event that allows the students to display their manners and etiquette. After studying dinner table manners and appropriate RSVP responses with the school librarian, Karen Criscillo, the kids experienced a mock formal affair where they brought teacups and saucers and greeted hosts and hostesses, with some even arriving in fancy dress.

Girl Power
A Turnersville Junior Girl Scout Troop gave back to their community in an interesting and innovative way—a giant baby shower. The fourth-grade troop collected hundreds of baby supplies, including diapers, clothing and formula, all of which was donated to Choices of the Heart, an organization that helps South Jersey mothers and their babies.

Hatching Chicks
The lucky first-graders at Saint Teresa Regional School, located in Runnemede, recently got a hands-on lesson about the lifecycle after they were gifted with the opportunity to monitor chicken eggs until they hatched into baby chicks. With the help of Mr. Zach of Quiver Farms, the students learned how to gently care for the fragile eggs, and they even got to play with the chicks for a few days before returning them to their home at the farm.

Remembering Heroes
Students at Birches Elementary School spent the start of their Memorial Day weekend admirably remembering the true meaning of the holiday by selling poppies, with proceeds benefiting the local chapter of the VFW. Washington Township VFW members Bob Abbott, Thomas Murphy, Joseph Rullo and Russel Price graciously accepted the donations and some poppies as well.
